Clio R.S.16
I won’t beat around the bush: Renault Sport put the engine and drivetrain from the RS Megane 275 Trophy-R into a Clio, and named it the R.S.16.
Megane 275 Trophy-R
That is, they’ve built a supermini, a car the size of a Fiesta ST, with the Trophy-R’s 271 horsepower engine, six speed manual - addressing the most common complaint about the current Clio RS, and saving quite a bit of weight to offset the bigger engine in the process - and LSD. EVO has the rest of the details:

This is more or less exactly my favourite sort of car, so hey, I’m excited to see how it does when the comparisons start rolling in.

Eh, give it 25 years. Besides, if it actually makes production - which it almost certainly will, but still - they’ll only be making 250, so it’s not like I’ll be driving one anytime soon!

It’s a Clio! Mostly! And I imagine anyone who crashes one around the ring is gonna feel mighty shitty about damaging their 1-of-250 limited edition car.
And I, too, wait in great anticipation of that Twingo, though I think I agree with the RenaultSport managing director quoted in the article when he says, ‘We’re better at front-engined, front-wheel drive cars at Renault Sport anyway.’

Yeah but Meganes are the ones crashing during touristenfahrten... They are the european FWD mustangs lol
And I talked to people in charge of the Renault booth at the Tokyo motorshow late last year and they told me that it definitely was “in the boxes”. They have one planned, they have one in mind, but they didn’t know when we’d see one in the showrooms...

Not even the french are daft enough to make a mid-engined city car.

In some alternate history Nissan isn’t a piece of shit company and sells this in the US as the Versa with this drivetrain.
